Al Naimi and Al Sulaiti share victories in the second round of QSTK600

In the second round of Qatar Superstock600 championship, the thrilling battle between Saeed Al Sulaiti and Mishal Al Naimi continued at Lusail International Circuit and Al Naimi and Al Sulaiti shared victories in this round. The first race was stopped just after the start due to some oil in the track so the race was re-scheduled at 10 laps instead of 12 laps. The poleman of the weekend, Saeed Al Sulaiti, managed to lead the race during the first half of the session. Al Sulaiti was very strong during the start of the race and pushed to create a gap with Mishal Al Naimi that was riding behind him. Unfortunately, Al Sulaiti crashed in the fifth lap at turn 16, he lost the front but luckily he managed to rejoin the race and end in sixth position. At the moment of Saeed crash, Al Naimi was behind him and pushed to keep the lead until the end and win the race. The second position in the podium was for Nasser Al Malki, who finished 2.850 behind Al Nami. Young rider Abdullah Al Qubaisi finished in third position. In the QSTK Trophy category, the win was for Essa Al Mutawa, followed by Soud Al Thani and Khalid Al Mal.In the second race of the day, Saeed also started the race pushing from the beginning and this time he took lead all the way until the checkered flag. This time, Al Sulaiti didn’t have any mistake and finish in front of Mishal Al Naimi by 4.877. The third place was for Nasser Al Malki.Essa Al Mutawa took again the victory in the QSTK Trophy. Soud Al Thani finished again second and this time the third place was for Jassim Al Thani. At the end of the day, Saeed Al Sulaiti was very happy with his result despite the crash ‘For race one I started very good. The first four laps I was leading and I noticed that Mishal and Nasser were a bit close to me, less than half a second so I decided to push more and unfortunately, I made a mistake in the last corner, I pushed too hard and I lose the front. It was a stupid mistake specially as I am leading with a bit of gap but luckily, I was able to pick up the bike and continue the race and finish in sixth place, it was very important for thernchampionship’ said Al Sulaiti.‘By race 2 I focused to just do the best and win the race in a safe way, as there is no room for any mistake, specially that this is round 2 and still 3 more rounds to go. I was really happy that after mid race I had quite a very good gap around 5 seconds so I decided to keep the rhythm in a safe way and finish the race. I am very happy to come back in the podium in race 2 and retake the lead of the championship again. Round 3 is coming soon, only in 2 weeks so we need to work hard with this new suspension and wish all the best to everyone. Thanks to QMMF and Lusail Circuit Sport Club for this championship and for organizing the test before the race and also to Team Saeed for supporting me’ ended Al Sulaiti.Al Naimi, who is second in the championship, is not very happy with the set up of his bike ‘I am not happy with the set up of the bike but happy because I close the gap with Saeed in the championship in this round. We started from Thursday with the private test and didn’t find a good set up. It feels like I am riding a 1.000 bike, it is very difficult to turn. From the FP 1 I tried to find a good set up but not possible, maybe because of the wind or because I am not working on the right way to look for a better set up in the bike because I am very slow from first round. For sure we need time to fix it and thanks to QMMF and Lusail to organize the private test to try the suspension but with this weather not possible to have a good set up. Also I want to thanks Ooredoo for supporting me in each round’ said Al Naimi. For Nasser Al Malki, this weekend was a good and productive one as he feels he is again competitive to fight with the front riders ‘For me this weekend was very nice, I start to feel the bike as I had a lot of problems in the past with the stocked suspension and don’t have any feeling. Just now I start to be again in the fight with Mishal and Saeed and I feel I am very near, we just need to prepare more the bike and be more comfortable with it.For next round I hope I can be better with the Ohlins suspension that help me a lot as I know that with this change I can improve my results. Many thanks to QMMF and Lusail Circuit Sports Club for the support’ Al Malki commented after the races.Trophies were presented by Mr. Abdulrahmam Al Mannai (QMMF President) and Mr. Abdulrazak Al Kuwari (QMMF General Secretary). The third round of Qatar Superstock Championship will be held on 16th and 17th February 2018.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
