Al Sulaiti is crowned QSTK600 champion in another dramatic race with Al Naimi

Qatar’s Saeed Al Sulaiti clinched the Qatar Superstock 600 title by winning the second race and finishing in the standings only 5 points gap in front of Mishal Al Naimi.

The presentation was also attended by the Lusail Circuit Sports Club Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General Khalid al Remaihi and riders Kenan Sofuoglu and Saeed al Sulaiti.Al Naimi won the first race only by 0.010 ahead of Sulaiti in a very tight finish. Al Naimi, starting from pole position, had a good start and pushed to create a gap with Al Sulaiti but he only managed to lead the race during five laps. In the sixth lap of the race, Al Sulaiti overtook him and took the lead during the second half of the race, but as it has been happeningrnin previous rounds, Al Naimi is fastest in the straight line and just passed him in the final.rnNasser Al Malki finished in third place. Al Malki, together with Al Sowaidi, were penalized during the Warm up with 3 places back in the grid as they practiced the start during the Wam Up.rnThe young rider Abdullah Al Qubaisi finished in fourth place and Fahad Al Sowaidi in fifth place.rnBefore the start of the second race, Al Sulaiti and Al Naimi were equal in the standings, 230 points, so the chances of win were the same for both riders.rnAs in the first race, Al Naimi pushed hard from the beginning to get distance from Al Sulaiti but he had a problem with thebike. Al Sulaiti noticed that Al Naimi had some problems and lap by lap he started to reduce the gap until the seventh lap when he overtook Al Naimi. Al Sulaiti kept a good rhythm until the end and finally crossed the chequered flag with a difference of 13.804 ahead of Al Naimi.rnThe third position was again for Nasser Al Malki and Abdullah Al Qubaisi finished again also in fourth place.rnAt the end of day, Saeed Al Sulaiti was extremely happy with his victory and wanted to thank to everybody that made this happen ‘’First of all I want to thank QMMF, Mr. Abdulrahman Al Mannai, to Lusail Circuit Sports Club, Mr. Khalid Al Remaihi for supporting all the riders in the championship and big thanks to Ooredoo for sponsoring me in this season.rnAlso thanks Team Saeed, all the people that is next to me and I couldn’t achieved this without all of them. They were motivating me from the start until the last lap’ said Al Sulaiti.rn‘The race 1 was really difficult. I had a bad start and I got stucked behind Abdullah for few corners and when I passed him, the gap with Mishal was almost 2 seconds. I pushed myself to the limit, I was doing a really great lap time, I was cutting half a second almost in every lap until I catched Mishal and overtook him. I lead the race, creating a gap of half a second but unfortunately, I did a mistake in corner 6 where I lost half a second so he was right behind me. Until the last lap, I was in the front and as usual, Mishal is stronger in the straight line and we crossed the line only 0.010 difference. I was really angry but still another chance in race 1’ added Al Sulaiti ‘In the race 2, again I didn’t make a good start and I noticed that my quick shift was not working properly so I managed to shift manually. I was trying to catch Mishal slowly, and in lap sixth, I noticed that Mishal had some problem with the bike, I passed him in the seventh lap, I kept the rhythm, just looking for the checkered flag pushing to my limits and really happy to win the race and the championship’ ended Al Sulaiti.rnThe runner up of the championship, Al Naimi, was happy with his overall performance and congratulated Saeed for his victory at the end of the day. ‘The first race was tough, I started to pushed from the beginning, with a very hot weather but happy to win the race. In the second race, I tried to pushed also from the beginning, I lead the race for 6 laps until I had some problems with the bike and Saeed was very fast. He deserves the title, he was a very good rider, with no mistakes, well, he made only one mistake when he pushed me out in the fourth round and I crashed so I didn’t’ get any point in that race, but this is racing’ commented Al Naimi.rn‘I am happy with my overall performance, I improved in every race and I want to thanks to Ooredoo and big thanks to QMMF and LCSC because they made a very good championship and hope we can prepare for the next season. Congratulations to Saeed, Nasser and to all the riders, they made a good performance to show everybody how is the motorsport here in Qatar’ ended Al Naimi.rnThe third overall position was for Nasser Al Malki, who finished with 201 points. ‘I am very happy to finish the championship in third position. I had some problems with the bike at the beginning of the season but later we managed to find a good setting and our performance was better. For next year we need to more prepared for the championship as it will be harder for sure. The last years have been difficult for me but I hope to be stronger for the next season. Congratulations to Saeed and Mishal, they pushed very hard from the first round until the last race and I am happy for them to finish the season with so close gap, this is good for the championship. Thanks to QMMF and LCSC to help us to do this championship and hope next year will be belter.’ Al Malki said.rnThe 17 years old Abdullah Al Qubaisi finished the championship in a impressive fourth place, with 146 points. ‘I am very happy to finish the championship in fourth place. I have worked very hard and I am very satisfied with my performance in this championship.
