ALEKSEI GUZOV DOMINATES GRAND FINAL TO CLAIM VICTORY IN 2025 QATAR KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1

The Lusail International Circuit (LIC) hosted an exhilarating first round of the 2025 Qatar Karting Championship on April 28-29, with Aleksei Guzov claiming a commanding victory in the Grand Final. The two-day event featured intense competition across multiple sessions on the karting track.

Held under the supervision of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and Qatar Motorsports Academy, the championship opener saw drivers compete on LIC's 1.124 km karting track. The championship format included practice sessions, qualifying groups, pre-finals and finals spread across two days. Monday's sessions featured admin checks, drivers' briefing, free practice, and qualifying for Groups A and B. The action intensified on Tuesday with warm-up sessions, pre-finals, last chance race, and the Grand Final that determined the round's champion.

In the Grand Final, Guzov demonstrated superior race craft to finish with a total time of 12:55.953 across the 12-lap race and a  best lap time of 1:03.921. Danish Qureshi secured second place 3.036 seconds behind, while Mohammed AL THANI completed the podium with a 4.983-second gap to the winner.

The Last Chance Race saw Yousef Al Sulaiti take victory with a total time of 13:10.562, followed closely by Fahad AL MADEED just 0.358 seconds behind. Hamza HASHISHO rounded out the podium 1.025 seconds off the pace.

Earlier in the day, Omar Aswat had dominated Pre-Final Group 2 with a commanding 5.253-second victory over Mohammed Al Thani, while Felice CARENA claimed a nail-biting win in Pre-Final Group 1, edging out Yousef AL SULAITI by just 0.051 seconds.

The event showcased Qatar's commitment to developing grassroots motorsport talent, with the championship providing a platform for competitors to demonstrate their skills at a world-class facility.
