Qatar Motorsport Academy launched during WorldSBK Pirelli Qatar Round

Qatar Motorsports Academy - an international facility for training young talented motorcycle riders. Qatar Motorsports Academy was officially launched this past Friday 26th October at the Lusail International Circuit during the WorldSBK Pirelli Qatar Round and is due to kick off on 23^rd November. Khalid Al Remaihi, Vice President and General Manager of Lusail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC), was joined by Markus Egger, Director of Sport and Strategy at Aspire Academy and Jose Luis Cardoso, former MotoGP and WorldSBK rider and Head of Motorcycling at QMA, when the announcement took place at Lusail International Circuit. This project was first announced during the Grand Prix of Qatar earlier this March in the presence of the three main partners - Dorna Sports SL, Aspire Academy and Lusail Circuit Sports Club. The main objective of this academy is to give young riders the tools to learn the basis of motorcycle racing and improve their skills in a safe environment. Al Remaihi said: "We have made this announcement because we know this country has huge racing talent. We want to train young kids from Qatar and abroad, the right way with expert help coming from Dorna Sports SL, Aspire Academy and José Luis Cardoso. With all of them, we will have a great experience in building young riders.” Aspire Academy, a well-known icon in sports education and training in Qatar, have seen an enormous racing talent in the country and are really interested in being involved in this project. Egger mentioned:  "We have been talking- 'what is the best way to get involved?'. In Qatar Motorsports Academy, our role is not technical. What we can do is look after the elite athletes' physical and mental condition. We have loads of expertise in this field.” José Luis Cardoso, head of motorcycling at the QMA, has vast experience in motorsport and is very excited about this opportunity to build a new generation of riders in Qatar. At the QMA, there will be both theoretical and practical lessons in all types of tracks with experienced instructors leading them. These lessons will take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays. For the development of motorcycling activity, the academy will add notions of physical preparation and nutrition, thus completing a very high level and well-rounded program. Cardoso stated: ‘This project is very important for Qatar and Lusail Circuit Sports Club’’ ‘’We are working on a very exclusive and high quality program and I am sure it will bring us many successes.  It will give an opportunity to boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 16 years old to learn and evolve in a sport as elite as motorcycling’’ ended Cardoso.
